Dear Editor:
This came from a news story which appeared last week in the Penticton Herald on Christy Clark running in the by-election for Westbank (West Kelowna): “Clark said area residents can reasonably expect some tangible perks for the riding if she wins the by-election.”
So the mess of where the perks end and actual good public spending begins will bog down the general public once again into shear apathy.
What Christy Clark is actually saying is that you can forget due process when it comes to spending your money, favouritism is what it’s all about.
It’s really quite amazing that she can publicly state that she will bribe people through corruption and do it all publicly without a speck of backlash.
So this is my speck of backlash.
The worst part about this statement is that she so blatantly promotes this type of corruption and deceit, that she doesn’t understand that this IS corruption and deceit.
Can the Premier of British Columbia actually believe that this is perfectly fine with us?
Well it isn’t, at least not with me.
And judging by the amount of cynicism out there- it isn’t fine with a lot of people.
It really is no wonder that the level of cynicism and apathy toward politics is so high.
Even so, this is what we have to look forward to for another four years. But I have to turn the cynicism not to the government, but to all people old enough to vote.
Thanks to everyone who didn’t vote for not understanding that first of all, the money you pay into taxes is actually ours to be spent fairly.
It’s not for perks and favouritism.
And second, for not understanding that the simple act of educating yourself and then voting, would go a long way to stopping the corruption and deceit.
