Kevin Leclerc, 49, of Oliver faces a number of charges after police apprehended him following an Osoyoos break-in on Sunday.
Leclerc is charged with break and enter, theft of a motor vehicle, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle and possession of stolen property.
Sgt. Jason Bayda, commanding officer of the Osoyoos RCMP Detachment, said police advocated for his detention, but Leclerc was released in court pending trial.
He is on a nightly curfew and has a condition not to go anywhere in Osoyoos.
RCMP said the incident occurred Aug. 27 when a person looking after a neighbour’s home called police when he went to check the place and believed there was someone inside.
When police entered the residence, a man well known to police for property crime in the area was found upstairs.
The man fled to the balcony and jumped over the railing. The officer pursued the man on foot and apprehended him as he attempted to flee and drive into the officer on a stolen quad.
In a further examination, parts from a stolen vehicle were located. Many valuables were also missing from the residence.

The ring is silver and contained gems.
