RCMP last week called off the search for a man believed to have drowned in the North Basin of Osoyoos Lake as the result of a personal watercraft accident on June 28.
As of Monday, a body had not been recovered, said Cpl. Jason Bayda of the Osoyoos RCMP Detachment.
Bayda said the family of the 34-year-old missing man is hiring its own dive team to continue the search this week.
The man lost control of the watercraft around 6 p.m. on Sunday, June 28. It is believed he was not wearing a life jacket. A female passenger, who was wearing a life jacket, was rescued by boaters in the area, but the man was not seen again.
RCMP divers combed the area in search of the body early last week.
