The public is invited to provide feedback on recovery plans for a number of species at risk in the Regional District of Okanagan-Similkameen (RDOS) area.
Environment Canada is inviting local residents to provide input at meetings in Osoyoos and Keremeos. The Osoyoos meeting is Monday, June 16 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the Sonora Community Centre and the Keremeos meeting is Tuesday, June 17 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the Elks’ Hall.
The recovery plans look at where the species are found, the types of habitat they need, the activities likely to destroy their habitat and ways people can help the species to survive or recover.
Among the affected species are yellow-breasted chat, sage thrasher, behr’s hairstreak, Sonora skipper, mountain beaver, western skink, toothcup, lewis’s woodpecker, whitebark pine, half-moon hairstreak, spotted bat, yellow-bellied racer nuttall’s cottontail and scarlet ammannia.
