The Oliver RCMP detachment reminds residents to lock their vehicles.

A review of recent theft from vehicle files represent that the vehicles were left unlocked.

“Although there are some thieves who will break glass to enter your vehicle, the majority of them do not want to draw attention their way by making noise,” said Sgt. Ken Harrington. “Please lock your vehicles when they are left unattended.”

The RCMP recently recovered two items that were likely stolen from two insecure Oliver area vehicles. Police ask the owners to claim the following items:

– An iPod, by representing the music and other items saved on this device.

– A knife, by describing the sheath that it was in when it was stolen.  The brand name is also unique so the owner should also be able to provide this information.

Police report that a resident residing in the 200 block of Circle Drive reported the recent theft of two iPods, a hunting knife and a hunting bag taken from his unlocked truck.

Aside from claiming the property, the RCMP will be looking to obtain a statement from the owner with regard to the theft, with the ultimate intent of pursuing a charge against the individual that was found to be in possession of the items.

Police receive knife

Oliver RCMP recently received a silver folding knife with a wooden handle that had the following engraving “Compliments of XXXXX TRUCKING LTD” on the handle.

Police had asked the rightful owner to claim this property by attending to the Oliver detachment and identifying the name of the trucking company.
