
The international wellness movement is coming to Osoyoos this weekend for Global Wellness Day.
Desert Sun Counselling and Resource Centre and Osoyoos Wellness Hub are partnering to bring the international wellness movement to Osoyoos on Saturday, June 8 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
The event is being held at Desert Sun at 8701 Main Street in Osoyoos and is part of Global Wellness Day which is celebrated all around the world with the goal of inspiring and helping people to make wellness a priority in their lives.
The all-ages event features a line-up of local businesses and organizations who have the purpose of helping their communities to thrive and live a happy life. Over a dozen tables will be set up sharing services, products, resources and information covering a variety of health dimensions including your physical, mental, social, emotional and financial wellness. Wellness Walks will be happening at 9:30, 10, 10:30 and 11 a.m.
Groups will head down to Watermark Beach Resort where there will be a hydration station and then everyone will make their way back up to the main event. Activity tables include a Creative Corner hosted by Osoyoos and District Arts Council where they will be featuring stress relieving art demos and some opportunities to get lost in the process of creating.

A Kids Wellness Zone will feature water play, colouring, arts and crafts as well as healthy snacks from Buy Low’s Larry the Strawberry. Kids can participate in painting rocks and hiding them on their own Kids Wellness Walk.
Free wellness activities and sessions will take place inside in the Desert Sun board room starting with a Warm up and Stretching Session led by Trish Stevens, physiotherapist, followed by a Wellness Walk. Caron Keens who is a Certified Laughter Leader will then be leading a Laughter Session to tickle your funny bone and to share the importance of allowing more laughter into our lives.
Next up is a presentation with Dr. Tamara Browne, naturopath at the Natural Family Health Clinic in Okanagan Falls titled Improving Chronic Pain through Diet and Lifestyle. The final session is a beginner’s yoga session with Helen Stutchbury from the the Yoga You Need. Space is limited and is first come first serve so get there early and visit some of the tables before the sessions start.
Child minding is available for parents who want to participate in these sessions.
