Oliver RCMP say a recent rash of vandalism appears to be a result of some (three) local youth looking for ways to get rid of their pent-up energy after finishing school for the year.
“Parents are asked to continue to be cognizant of what their children are doing,” said Sgt. Ken Harrington.
He noted the type of vandalism reported is not generally associated with seasonal fruit pickers or any other demographic.
Harrington said if residents witness youth traveling in groups in their area, or experience damage to their property during the evening or early morning hours, they should report these instances to the police in a timely fashion so that focused patrols can be conducted.
“Reporting files such as nocturnal vandalism the morning after has very little investigative value.” Harrington said.
The officer encouraged the public to take advantage of the Crime Stoppers program (1-800-222-8477) or the Oliver RCMP detachment anytime at (250) 498-3422.
