An incident on Bank Avenue in downtown Oliver this afternoon brought numerous police to the scene.
Sgt. Don Wrigglesworth of the Oliver RCMP said two suspects were arrested outside the CIBC without incident following a report of a man with a gun.
“A sawed-off shotgun was located in their vehicle and seized,” Wrigglesworth said. He added that both men are local and known to police. The men were subsequently taken into custody.
One caller informed the Times-Chronicle that she saw police put handcuffs on one individual on the corner near the bank. Another witness said he observed police handling a long firearm at the scene.
“Was it a bank robbery?” another pedestrian asked.
