Regional director Mark Pendergraft is relying on many years of experience as he seeks re-election in Area A.

Simply put, he’s got some unfinished business to attend to.

“There are some things that I would like to see through to completion and a few other things that I would like to see move forward if I am fortunate enough to get re-elected.”

But the main reason he is running again is the belief that he has the needed experience to get projects done.

“I still have the energy and drive to work for the betterment of the community.”

Pendergraft has served five terms as the director for rural Osoyoos. He was first elected as director in 2005.

“I am passionate about bringing more common sense and cost-effective solutions to issues that are dealt with by the regional district,” he told the Times Chronicle.

The main topic of unfinished business for Pendergraft is environmentally sensitive development permits, which will be subject to potential bylaw changes.

Another issue he wants to herd into completion is the new animal control bylaw which is also undergoing changes.

He would like to see the percentage breakdown of the costs of that service among electoral areas.

“This is an example of where I see my past terms as the electoral area director as being a big advantage because I know where most of the issues lie and have a path forward in mind.”

When asked what will make living in rural Osoyoos better, Pendergraft said he believes Area A is a great place to live now.

“Having been born and raised in Osoyoos I have 60 years of personal experience to look back on. Having said that I know there is always room for improvement, and I am always open to suggestions from constituents on projects and/or ways to make things better.”

Pendergraft will continue as chair of the RDOS board
