Osoyoos Golf Club’s Tim Hachey has emerged as the Order of Merit Winner at the British Columbia Golf Zone 2 Junior Tour.

Hachey also placed 1st Low Gross with a score of 148 (four over par) in the Juvenile Flight (age 15-16) and tied the scores of the second and third place finishers in the Junior Flight (age 17-18). 

The two-month-long Junior Tour – which supports the development of young golfers – kicked off in Osoyoos on April 13 and wrapped up on June 1-2 with the 36 Hole Junior Championship held at Gallagher’s Canyon Golf Club in Kelowna. 

The Tour moved from Osoyoos in the South to Kamloops in the North and featured 10 different events. A highlight of the championship was a Hole In One on the 3rd Hole by Lucas Badger.

Overall Junior Champion was Ryan Vest from Vernon’s Predator Ridge with two under par 142 in the Junior Flight. Luke Traverse of Revelstoke Golf Club won the Bantam Flight with a 12 over par 156.  Overall Low Net Winner was Asher Arychuk of Kelowna Golf & Country Club with a five under par 139.

Tierra Elchuk was the girl’s Order of Merit Winner and 1st in Low Gross with a score of 9 over par 153. Most Improved Golfer was Kayla Lancaster. 

The event also qualifies players for the Zone Teams to the BC Junior Boys, BC Juvenile Boys and BC Junior Girls.

The Zone Teams are as follows:

  • Junior: Tim Hachey, Ryan Vest, Oakley Mayner
  • Juvenile: Tim Hachey, Joshua Laverdiere, DJ Crow
  • Girls: Tierra Elchuk, Ellie Johnson

Summer Games Team:

  • Girls: Laura Goertzen, Kaila Matthews, Ellie Johnson
  • Boys: Finley Dober, Sam Hager, DJ Crowe

A Zone 2 Team comprised of three boys and three girls will compete in the BC Summer Games which for golf will be hosted at Meadow Gardens in Maple Ridge from July 18-21. Teams will compete in a 36 hole individual gross stroke play and team net stroke play. Coaching is provided by BC Golf.
