After some challenging spring weather over the past three months – following one of the longest and coldest winters in the South Okanagan in 20 years – Osoyoos residents are very much looking forward to the Victoria Day “May 24” holiday long weekend.

With the forecast calling for sunshine and near-normal spring temperatures, there is going to be a lot of people moving about the province and heading towards campgrounds across the Okanagan Valley and all over the province.

We urge everyone to take their time, drive safely and use extra precautions as highways and roads across the province are sure to be packed with travellers.

Because of the holiday long weekend, the office at the Osoyoos Times will not be open on Monday, May 22, but we will return to normal business hours on Tuesday, May 23 and the regular edition of our newspaper will be published on May 24.

Because of the holiday Monday, advertising deadlines have been moved up with the deadline for display ads set for Friday, May 19 at 2 p.m. The deadline for classified advertising will remain next Tuesday at 2 p.m.

We wish everyone a safe, happy and memorable holiday weekend as the unofficial beginning to summer commences.
