Another beautiful South Okanagan long holiday weekend is quickly approaching.

This coming Monday is B.C. Day and is a statutory holiday for most British Columbia residents.

As a result, the Osoyoos Times office will be closed for business on Monday, so we are pushing our weekly deadline for display advertising to Friday at 2 p.m.

The regular deadline for classified advertising will remain on our weekly production day on Tuesday at 2 p.m.

Environment Canada is calling for sensational weather throughout the holiday weekend with daytime highs from Thursday through Monday predicted to range between 34 and 35 degrees Celsius.

We urge all local residents and our loyal readers to be careful on local lakes and roadways as traffic on the water and highways is always significantly increased during the long weekends in the summer months.

RCMP will once again be out in force to ensure everyone gets home safely and there’s a very good chance they will be conducting Counter Attack spotchecks in and around Osoyoos some time over the holiday weekend.

We urge everyone to please not drink and drive, enjoy the beautiful sunshine and hot weather, be safe and have fun.
