Dear Editor:

Soroptimist International, Osoyoos chapter, is seeking out South Okanagan women who qualify to apply for the Live your Dream Education and Training Awards, formerly recognized as the Women’s Opportunity Awards.

Live Your Dream Awards makes education accessible to women from starting a certificate program to finishing college.

The award is a grant to an individual woman directly who may use it to offset any costs associated with their efforts to attain higher education, such as books, childcare, computer purchase or tuition.

With this awards program, Soroptimist International reaches out to women who have overcome life challenges such as poverty, domestic and sexual violence, divorce or addiction and helps them reclaim their dreams through its cornerstone education awards program newly and aptly named, Live your Dream Awards.

Since 1972, Soroptimist International has distributed more than $25 million to tens of thousands of women who had the courage and determination to turn their lives around.

The program begins at the local Soroptimist club level, where the award is $1,500.

Local-level award recipients become eligible for region-level awards of either $3,000 or $5,000.

Region-level award recipients then become eligible to receive one of three international-level awards of $10,000.

For more information contact Terri Postnikoff at 250-495-4301 or email [email protected].

The club application deadline is November 15.
