Members of the current Osoyoos Royalty have been kept very busy attending numerous events in our community and travelling to other communities to represent the town. Greetings Osoyoos.
Princess Amara, Queen Teagen and Princess Ali have been busy in the past month.
Queen Teagen loved reading to the younger children at the elementary school D.E.A.R. (Drop Everything and Read) day. She said later that she always loves to see the children enjoy reading and smiling.
Queen Teagen and I enjoyed volunteering at the Family Fair that was sponsored by Communities For Kids. This was a fun-filled day with different vendors and displays for young kids and their parents.
We enjoyed the large tortoise, whose name, ironically, was Turbo.
Later that day, Princess Amara, Queen Teagen and I were delighted to go to the United Church to help serve at their annual Snowflake tea. Tables were filled with delicious baking and amazing sandwiches, along with a large silent auction.
On February 5, Queen Teagen and I travelled to Vernon for the proclamation of Queen Silver Star the 55th. We enjoyed the kickoff of the Vernon Winter Carnival and participating in their parade and we were even thrown into Carnival Jail.
We had a wonderful time exploring the Science Center and visiting with our fellow sparkle-heads, whom we have not seen in a while, as there are no pageants from November through January.
The month of January was also filled with activities that we all enjoyed.
I can’t believe the Osoyoos Royalty Program is already looking for candidates. It seemed like it was only yesterday that we were crowned.
In the month of January, Princess Ali, Princess Amara and Queen Teagan had the opportunity to help out at the Elks’ Friday nights’ Bingo.
Everyone there is so happy to see us and we always have a fun time at the bingo hall.
A big thank you goes out to the Elks for allowing us to serve in this way.
On Jan. 24, Princess Amara and Queen Teagan welcomed visitors to the Desert Sun Counselling and Resource Center’s 10th annual Grand Night.
Everyone that attended the event looked amazing. The Royalty enjoyed wearing our gowns instead of business suits, for a change, as we greeted all the couples.
After the meet and greet, we changed out of our gowns and helped serve the delicious-smelling meal, prepared by many local, talented chefs.
After everyone was fed, the dance floor filled and people danced the night away. The Grand Night was an experience unlike any other. Thank you for the invitation, Desert Sun.
On January 27, Queen Teagan had the opportunity of going to Osoyoos Elementary School and reading to students. She was privileged to attend Miss Dias’ kindergarten class.
The girls were dressed in princess dresses and the boys wore their favourite super hero costume.
Every child seemed to enjoy the story of a dog who held a party while his parents were out on the town. The book was called Stanley’s Party.
The girls were excited to see local Royalty and the boys were thrilled to see the players from the Osoyoos Coyotes.
The Osoyoos Royalty Program is excited to now have our 2015 candidates in place. They are already working hard and Queen Teagen, Princess Amara Princess Ali can’t wait to see them grow and accomplish their goals through the next five months.
More girls are still welcome into the group, so come on girls between 15 and 19 years of age. Come and have fun learning and improving your skills.
