The Osoyoos Royalty has been busy recently travelling the province and promoting Osoyoos. Pictured here, they visited Trail for the Silver City Days Celebration, where they promoted the upcoming Cherry Fiesta in Osoyoos on July 1. Queen Teagen Aspell and Princesses Ali Hutter and Amara Leeson will soon be passing their crowns to a new Royalty. See Page 31 for more about their busy lives. (Photo supplied)
Queen Teagen, Princess Ali and Princess Amara had the privilege of visiting a few different communities in British Columbia in May.
Over the weekend of May 8 – 10, we visited Trail for their Ambassador Pageant, where we were part of a scavenger hunt, went to the fair, and supported the newly crowned Royalty at a wonderful pageant.
We had lots of fun, with an authentic Italian dinner, a dance and fireworks!
On May 15, we travelled to New Denver to say farewell to their out-going ambassadors and welcome the new Miss New Denver. We enjoyed the pageant and after-party, and the delicious home-cooked breakfast the next morning, before heading back home.
On May 17, Princess Ali travelled to Keremeos, with the Oliver ambassadors, for the Keremeos pageant, rodeo and parade. She loved watching all the different races and the small children trying to catch the chickens!
Our second judged event for our candidates was on May 24. Speech night was a lovely evening where Troy’s Grill made a wonderful dinner. All of our candidates did an exemplary job with their speeches and made the reigning team proud.
On May 30, Princess Ali and candidates Emma and Tianna as well as British Columbia Ambassador candidates Viveka Jensen and Chelsea Cameron-Horner attended the Desert Park Fundraiser. Princess Ali and candidates Emma and Tianna served appetizers and Viveka and Chelsea greeted guests at the door. It was a very enjoyable evening spent with lovely people of the town.
We are sad that this is our final month as Osoyoos Royalty but we are excited for our candidates and to find out who will be the new Miss Osoyoos and Princesses for 2015. Come find out yourself at our pageant on June 30 at 6:30 p.m. at the Sonora Community Centre.

Over the past few months, my reign as Miss Osoyoos has been incredibly enjoyable.
Our candidates have been working very hard and Princess Ali, Princess Amara and I are so proud to call them our Miss Osoyoos 2015 candidates.
Best of luck to you girls.
The Easter Eggstravaganza took place on April 4. The reigning Royalty, candidates and co-ordinators offered games for children ages one to 12 years old.
The candidates and reigning Royalty painted children’s faces and helped with the target throw and fishpond. Children were very excited to see “real” princesses.
Princess Amara, Princess Ali and I had the honour of being invited to the Osoyoos Community Volunteer Luncheon.
Our co-ordinator, Cathie Baskett, was nominated for Volunteer of the Year. The lunch was delicious and seeing the many men and women who volunteer in our community was very exciting.
On April 14, our candidates received their tiaras and banners at Presentation Night. The girls gave speeches that lasted between two and three minutes about themselves and their sponsors.
Although this was not a judged event, the candidates did extremely well for their first time public speaking.
Our new candidates include Tianna Morgan, Miss Buy-Low Foods; Bailey Toepfer, Miss Elk’s Lodge #436; and Emma Fernandes, Miss Desert Aire Realty.
On Saturday, April 18, the annual Soroptimist Fashion show took place once again.
Not only did Princess Amara, Princess Ali and I get to model beautiful clothing from Wander Café, but so did our British Columbia Ambassador candidates, Chelsea Cameron-Horner and Viveka Jensen.
Also on April 18 was the annual Destination Osoyoos Oyster Feed. Miss Elks Lodge #436, Bailey, and Miss Desert Aire Realty, Emma, had the honour of serving at this event.
The candidates helped locals and visitors enjoy the fantastic evening. Our British Columbia Ambassadors, Viveka and Chelsea, also participated.
April 21 was another exciting day for our candidates. Our annual Little Princess Party was held at the Osoyoos Elementary School.
Girls in Grades 1 and 2 were invited to visit with us, colour pictures and hear stories about princesses, while enjoying a snack of cupcakes and juice.
They could also possibly be chosen as a Little Buddy for our candidates. Congratulations to this year’s Little Buddies, Kaylie, Jordan and Willow. I know you will enjoy this time with your special candidate!
On the weekend of April 25-26, Princess Ali and I had the joy of heading to the Village of Chase.
As soon as we arrived, we were enveloped in an exciting scavenger hunt. Although the reigning team retired, Princess Ali, Princess Amara and I know that we will have fun getting to know the new Chase Ambassador team.
April 30 was an important day for Tianna, Emma and Bailey as this was the candidates’ first judged event.
Each candidate gave her short introductory speech again, showed us her entertainment number, participated in the very unique fashion show and auctioned her apron.
May 1-2 were bittersweet days, as we had to say goodbye to an amazing ambassador team from Summerland.
Princess Ali, Princess Amara and I were honoured to bring our candidates to take part in this glorious evening.
As the days get closer for our own pageant, I realize there are only a few more trips where I can represent Osoyoos as your Queen, and how much these days have meant to me. I plan to make every last minute count.
