Humbug has never escaped the lips of Dan Burton at Christmas time.

But the fact that is seven months away doesn’t matter to this Osoyoos resident.

In fact, Burton on Oleander Drive has already begun working on this year’s light display consisting of thousands of bulbs.

“It’s fun. I love it!” he said.

Burton normally starts working on his display in July, but due to the pandemic, he has a lot of extra time on his hands.

His resume includes some dazzling experience as the light show coordinator at the Calgary Zoo.

“When we finished the light show at the zoo, we would go into my office and work on a new design. Every day was Christmas.”

He makes sure his home display is different every year. Last year he did the Grinch. A previous year it was Santa on a Harley.

This year he’s building a huge locomotive, but that’s all he’s going to say about it because he doesn’t want to ruin the surprise. Come on, Dan, just a few more details. Nope. You’ll just have to wait and see.
