Osoyoos is joining the 100 Radon Test Kit Challenge organized by Take Action on Radon, a coalition of national health organizations which distributes 100 free radon test kits to communities.
Last month the RDOS announced it was doing the same and Oliver participated for its second time early last year.
The campaign aims to raise awareness about the health risks associated with radon ahead of the upcoming National Radon Awareness Month in November.
Osoyoos residents are invited to participate in the 100 Radon Test Kit Challenge and receive a free radon kit to test their own home.
A free online Radon Information Session will be held Monday, October 27 at 7 p.m. Residents are encouraged to attend, whether or not they take part in the testing program, to learn about radon, its health effects, and Health Canada’s recommendations for homeowners.

BC Centre for Disease Control radon map shows high concentrations of radon in over 59 per cent of households in Oliver. Osoyoos currently has insufficient data to estimate.
