The Osoyoos live Osprey nest webcam is back online starting Wednesday, and already has a visitor.
The camera, which is live online 24 hours a day, seven days a week, was installed four years ago placed on top of a de-energized FortisBC pole over a nest discovered on a power pole near Osoyoos Elementary School.
The project was a joint partnership between the Town of Osoyoos and FortisBC.
Although it was originally intended to observe osprey, the camera has a history of featuring Canadian geese as well, who have laid eggs in the nest in the past. This year, an Osprey appears to be the first to show up.
Last year was a tragic affair, as Osoyoos watched a two-week-old bird slowly make its way to the edge of the nest, just out of the camera’s view and fall out.
