A 26-year-old Osoyoos man has been arrested and charged in connection with thefts at the Osoyoos Canada Post office on March 25 in which some 20 mailboxes were broken into.
Aaron Moore is charged with theft and fraud after police allegedly found more than 50 pieces of other people's mail in his possession on April 2.
Moore was being held in police custody until an appearance in Penticton provincial court scheduled for April 7.
The results of Moore's court appearance were not readily available at press time.
Moore was located at a Hwy. 97 residence, despite having no fixed address, police said.
Osoyoos RCMP spokesman Cpl. Dan Moskaluk said that several pieces of mail found in the suspect's possession were allegedly from the mailboxes that had been broken into.
Moskaluk also said that police have evidence that the suspect allegedly tried to cash at least one fraudulent cheque.
But it doesn't stop with the post office thefts.
Moskaluk said some of the mail that was in the suspect's possession allegedly links him to mailbox thefts that have been happening in communities from Kaleden to Osoyoos in recent months.
He said there was also mail linking the suspect to thefts from cars and mailboxes throughout Osoyoos as recently as April 1.
