This year’s Christmas lightup will see events spread over two days and will include an Artisan Christmas Market for the first time with food and drinks on Friday and a vendor market Sat. 

Saturday will also feature the second annual Jingle Run starting from the Sonora Centre.

A last minute addition to the parade this year are a few “Krampus” – horned creatures from Bavarian tradition – that scare naughty children. 

The brain-child of Wina Poliquin from Wide Arts National Association (WANA), she adapting the tradition to one of keeping the town safe by scaring evil away. “It’s part of my effort to promote the Yule Celebration an move away from the commercialization of the season,” she said.
