The Town of Osoyoos has issued a warning about poor water quality at two of its beaches where swimming is not recommended.
Due to unsatisfactory bacteriological results from water samples taken at Legion and Cottonwood beaches, the Town has issued a swimming advisory.
Town officials took water samples over a period of 30 days and discovered they contained (on average) more than 200 E. coli bacteria/100 ml and/or a series of single sample results that exceeded 400 E. coli bacteria.
Less than or equal to 200 E. coli bacteria is considered satisfactory.
The swimming advisory will remain in effect until water samples return to a satisfactory nature.
