Twelve teams participated in the Oliver Junior Curling Bonspiel at Eastlink Curling Centre on February 6. The winning team was from Penticton. An Oliver team finished in second place.

The Eastlink Curling Centre (home of the Oliver Curling Club) hosted the Oliver Junior Bonspiel Saturday, Feb. 6, which started at 9 am and ended at approximately 4 pm.

We had 12 teams participate, four teams from Oliver, one combined Penticton/Oliver team, three teams from Penticton, two teams from Osoyoos, and two teams from Summerland. Princeton was invited but was not able to attend.

There was a great turnout of adults to watch the curling.

Penticton had the winning team followed by Oliver in second place, and two teams tied for third, one from Oliver and one from Summerland.

All participants received a prize and only the top three finishing teams received medals.

Lee and Leonard from the Oliver Kiwanis Club were there to present the medals to the winning teams. They also presented the Curling Club with a cheque in the amount of $1000.

The turnout of volunteers was fantastic including parents, curlers from the Oliver Curling Club and coaches or parents from visiting participating clubs. Everyone was invited to enjoy a hot dog or sandwich.
