Police are looking to identify a suspect after local stores reported a scam that saw stolen goods returned for a refund.

On July 25 at 9:26 am, the Oliver RCMP received a report of a fraud and theft that had occurred earlier that week. On Monday, July 21 at around 4:30 pm, a man entered the store with some property that he said his wife had purchased and due to family related issues the product was no longer required.

At the end of the business day a reconciliation process confirmed that the product that this man had returned was in fact previously stolen.

The suspect is described as: Caucasian male; five feet, nine inches (175 centimetres) tall; 130-160 pounds (59-73 kilograms); balding with moustache; wearing a blue T-shirt with the words “Honestly Levi’s” written in white letters on the front.

Police are asking for help in identifying this suspect. Anyone with information is asked to call the Oliver RCMP detachment at 250-498-3422 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
