A shack on Nk’Mip Road southeast of Oliver was totally destroyed by fire on Saturday, June 11.
Oliver Fire Department spokesman Rob Graham said the cabin was fully engulfed in flames by the time crews arrived. He noted the structure was occupied and a resident may have suffered some smoke inhalation and minor burns.
Graham said they had to use caution due to propane cylinders and ammunition inside the building. The fire spread to some nearby brush, he added.
Oliver RCMP Sgt. Don Wrigglesworth said the fire was the result of a spark from a grinder. He added that they found suspected stolen lumber from various job sites in the area.

The cabin was burned to the ground, with no confirmed cause. (Photo by Myrl Stus)
