A prominent wine entrepreneur in Oliver must pay a $90,000 fine for his involvement in an immigration fraud scheme.
Randy Toor of Toor Vineyards also pleaded guilty to possessing firearms without a licence, for which he was given a conditional discharge. He must now complete 150 hours of community service work.
The facts came out during a recent hearing in Penticton, where the court was told how Toor became mixed up in an immigration scheme involving misrepresentation (fake job postings) relating to temporary foreign workers.
The gun charges stemmed from a search warrant during the immigration investigation, where handguns were found with expired licences.
Toor, a former auxiliary officer for the RCMP, has no prior criminal record, the court heard.
