The Okanagan Similkameen Healthy Living Fair Society’s annual Healthy Living Fair Saturday March 14th, at the Penticton Trade & Convention Centre from 9:00 am – 4:00 pm will be host to some amazing presenters, healthy eating sessions, entertainment, activity demonstrations and over 60 different organizations who support a healthy living focus. Here is the line-up of the activities to-date for this weekend:

OPENING CEREMONY – MAIN STAGE (9:10 am):

The Okanagan Similkameen Healthy Living Fair Society directors, dignitaries, media, exhibitors and volunteers will participate in a short Welcome and Ribbon Cutting Opening Ceremony on the Main Stage.

KEYNOTE SPEAKER – MAIN STAGE (9:15 am):

Join the Okanagan Similkameen Healthy Living Coalition to hear Keynote Speaker Dr. Art Hister “Celebrate our Health!” with his presentation ‘Simple Keys to A Longer and Healthier Life’ is the perfect match to our theme!

In his humorous, common sense style, Dr. Art Hister will tantalize you with many simple steps just about anyone – no matter how young or old, no matter their previous medical history – can take to!

LIVE ENTERTAINMENT FROM THE PENTICTON ACADEMY OF MUSIC – MAIN STAGE:

Now in its 21st year, the Penticton Academy of Music offers private lessons in piano, voice, violin, cello, harp, guitar, flute and speech arts from a faculty of 14 outstanding and highly qualified musicians. There is also a full Musical Theatre program, Children and Youth Choirs, the Academy String Orchestra and Music Roots for preschoolers. Watch the Main Stage for entertainment by the talented students.

HEALTH LIVING ASSESSMENT STATIONS – ON TRADE SHOW FLOOR (Back wall):

The For My Health! Healthy Living Assessment stations will host health professionals and UBC-O 3rd Year Nursing students who will take your blood pressure, met with you one-on-one to discuss stress, eating healthy, being fit, how to stop smoking, and setting your healthy-living goals. Take your completed For My Health! Profile and Plan assessment to your next annual Doctor’s appointment to review and set up a plan.

INTERIOR HEALTH – MY HEALTH IS SEXY – HIV TESTING – BOOTH #53:

Interior Health has recently launched the My Health is Sexy Campaign. The campaign encourages all adults to get tested for HIV. Health Outreach Nurses from Interior Health will be offering on site confidential HIV counseling and testing. There will also be a display on the My Health is Sexy Campaign and a nurse available to answer questions.

The YES Project – The Youth Engagement StrategyRoom #1:

The YES Project is partnering with the Okanagan Similkameen Healthy Living Fair Society to present a session. Emma Reiter, a member of the YES Steering Committee and Grade 12 Penticton High School student, along side a team of YES Youth Advisors, will be presenting at the OS Healthy Living Fair about the Youth Engagement Strategy (aka The YES Project) in Room #1 of the Penticton Trade & Convention Centre starting at 1:00 p.m.

Healthy Living Assessment Program and can be done, in-advance, on the event website: www.healthylivingfair.com. All pre-registered participants with the Healthy Living Assessment Program will be entered into a draw for prize – draw will take place at the end of the event.
