The South Okanagan Similkameen (SOS) Medical Foundation has announced that the Okanagan Falls Royal Canadian Legion Branch 227 has donated $5,000 to We Care, the community-powered campaign supporting the South Okanagan General Hospital (SOGH).
Launched in September 2025, We Care is raising $2 million by the end of 2027 to protect and strengthen care close to home.
Funds raised will help keep the SOGH Emergency Department open by building temporary housing for locum staff, bring ultrasound services to the hospital for the first time, and replace two aging X-ray machines with a modern digital unit so patients receive timely, high-quality diagnostics without leaving the area.
“We are deeply grateful to the Okanagan Falls Legion for their generous support,” said Ian Lindsay, CEO of the SOS Medical Foundation.
“Organizations like the Legion continue to rise to the occasion, stepping forward to strengthen healthcare for everyone in our region. Their contribution helps ensure that families and individuals can count on reliable emergency and diagnostic services for years to come. When our community says ‘we care,’ it truly changes what is possible at SOGH.”
The SOS Medical Foundation invites individuals, businesses, and community groups to join in supporting the SOGH We Care Campaign. “Every donation brings the region closer to ensuring the continued excellence of local healthcare services,” it added.
