Osoyoos Indian Band chief Clarence Louie has been inducted into the Canadian Business Hall of Fame.

Alongside 15 Osoyoos Indian Band members, Louie accepted the award at the 41st annual gala and induction ceremony in Toronto on June 19.

“As I don’t own any of the businesses, it is truly an OIB award, therefore it is great recognition for the Osoyoos Indian Band for all its economic development achievements,” Louie said.

“Anytime any of the Osoyoos Indian Band businesses or individuals get recognized for their work it’s not only great for the Rez but also for the region.”

Inductees are nominated and chosen by an independent selection committee.

Louie was joined by three other Canadian business leaders: retired president and CAO of Ontario Teacher’s Pension Plan Claude Lamoureux; Stephen J. R. Smith, Chairman and CEO of First National Financial LP; and Annette Verschuren, chair and CEO of NRStor Inc.
