The Community Foundation South Okanagan Similkameen is excited to award five Neighbourhood Small Grants to Osoyoos and one to the community of Anarchist.

The grants are administered through a program partner organization, the Town of Osoyoos, and resident advisory committee members — all local community volunteers.

This year’s recipients included Hilary Robertson, Mike Stiles, Candy Anders, Mayor Sue McKortoff, Tamara Morgan, Eryn Wiender, Arran Balint and Adeline Stone.

Neighbourhood Small Grants help connect and engage residents in their community by encouraging them to come up with their own ideas for how their neighbourhood can be strengthened.

“We take great pride in helping create a sense of community” says Kim English, Regional Development Officer. “When people feel a sense of connection and belonging to their neighbourhood, they are more likely to be engaged in activities that make it a better place to live.”

The Neighbourhood Small Grants program was created by the Vancouver Foundation in 1999. Neighbourhood Small Grants help connect and engage residents in their community regions through co-funding partnerships with Vancouver Foundation and the City of Penticton (Penticton only projects).
