Oliver’s heritage is alive and well, and no pandemic will stop history in the making.
That’s why the Oliver & District Museum and Archives will reopen June 2 for visits and research appointments.
The museum will be open with limited hours in June as part of a phased reopening process, with increased open hours planned for July and August. The Archives will maintain its regular hours.
To protect visitors, special safety measures will be in place in accordance with the new COVID-19 safety plan. These include increased cleaning at both buildings, physical distancing measures, restrictions on visitor numbers, contactless payment methods, and a new online booking system for visits (https://www.oliverheritage.ca/#basics.
Museum visits may also be booked by phone at 778-439-3100. Researchers and visitors to the Archives can make an appointment by calling 250-498-4027 or by emailing [email protected].
Staff will use masks when assisting the public. Visitors are also strongly encouraged to bring their own masks to wear inside the buildings. Anyone who is ill, has recently travelled or has been in contact with a sick person in the last 14 days will be asked to stay home and to reschedule their booking.
During the closure, staff have been hard at work on a new temporary exhibit on Oliver’s Scouting history, as well as new online activities.
“We look forward to welcoming back our treasured researchers and visitors and sharing our work with them as we continue to present and preserve Oliver’s colourful past,” said Executive Director Julianna Weisgarber.
