The popular Disney film Zootopia will be showing on Aug. 15.
If Mother Nature co-operates – which she usually does in the middle of August in Osoyoos – there should be a huge crowd of movie lovers gathered for a special outdoor movie event.
Interior Savings and the Rotary Club of Osoyoos invite all local residents to grab a picnic blanket and head down to the Osoyoos Elementary School upper field to watch a moonlight screening of the acclaimed animated hit Zootopia on Monday, August 15.
The movie will be shown on a giant inflatable cinema screen at sundown. Everyone is encouraged to arrive early to get a good viewing spot and take part in some of the many family-friendly pre-show activities and concessions.
While there is no charge to attend the event, a donation of $3 per person or $10 for a family of four is suggested.
All funds raised will benefit the Rotary Club of Osoyoos.
“We are delighted to be able to partner with Interior Savings and be part of the Moonlight Movie Tour,” said Brian Rawlings, president of the Rotary Club of Osoyoos. “I hope everyone will take the opportunity to enjoy this unique movie experience with friends and family. Proceeds from the event will help us raise funds to support 17 different local organizations.”
The Aug. 15 screening is one of nine movie nights taking place throughout the Thompson Okanagan in August.
“With the Interior Savings Moonlight Movie Tour, we are able to provide a family-friendly, free night out while raising money and awareness for youth programs in the community,” says Kathy Conway, CEO of Interior Savings. “To date, this tour has raised over $115,000 for local programs that help youth develop leadership and life skills.”
Pre-show activities will start at 7 p.m. with the movie scheduled to start at sundown.
Please bring your own blankets and lawn chairs, to be comfortable and warm.
If this event is as successful as it promises to be, there would be certainly more outdoor movie nights like this in the future, said Rawlings.
