On August 24th, 2019, at 5:30 hours, Princeton RCMP were dispatched to a rural property in Coalmont,
BC, which is located approximately 20kms northwest of Princeton, BC. The caller reported a man had
been shot.
Upon arrival, it was learnt an altercation occurred between two men. One of the men, a 58 year old,
was found to have discharged a firearm at a 63 year old man, while he was driving his vehicle
erratically on the rural property. This resulted in the 63 year old suffering serious injuries to his right
arm. He was subsequently taken to hospital. The injuries are serious, but not life threatening.
The 58 year old accused, who is a resident of Coalmont, was taken into custody by Officers at the
scene. The accused is being held in custody pending a first appearance in Penticton Provincial Court
on Monday, August 26th, 2019.
“Princeton RCMP are in the early stages of their investigation and are still gathering information. They
are considering charges against both parties. Both parties are residents of Coalmont. Alcohol may
have been a contributing factor”, explains Cst. James Grandy.
