A man suffered serious injuries after allegedly being stabbed repeatedly during a recent fight at an Oliver residence.
Now the accused is on bail.
Police report that officers responded to a reported stabbing on Highway 97 south of Oliver on June 3 at 1 a.m. A female stated she was driving a friend to the hospital because he had been stabbed repeatedly.
According to the RCMP, the victim was at the female’s residence with another male when they became embroiled in an argument, resulting in a fight. The victim was subsequently stabbed and slashed. Sergeant Blaine Gervais of the Oliver RCMP said the injuries were serious, possibly life-threatening.
Thirty-two-year-old Abraham Charleyboy was arrested. A search warrant was executed at the suspect’s residence and a weapon was recovered, according to police.
As a result of the investigation, Charleyboy was charged with aggravated assault and possession of a weapon for dangerous purposes. During a court appearance on June 8, a judge granted the accused bail. His conditions include staying away from the Town of Oliver and living in Kelowna. Charleyboy is scheduled to return to court on June 22.
