Oliver RCMP charged a man with mischief on Dec. 17 after a suspect was seen pulling a burning mat out of the Royal Bank on Main Street.

Police say the fire department called them to report a fire in progress just after 4:30 a.m.

“On scene they located a male pulling a burning mat out of the bank,” said Sgt. Don Wrigglesworth.

He said police subsequently located the male with the assistance of the fire department. The suspect was arrested and brought back to the Oliver detachment. Wrigglesworth said the man was released later in the day on an undertaking to attend court for a charge of mischief.
