Dear Editor:
I have given a great deal of thought regarding BFI Waste Management.
Town of Osoyoos council states BFI had the lowest bid, so we changed garbage contractors.
I would like to know if the town council was aware BFI would introduce residential carts.  In my opinion, if they were aware, shame on them, because this is an added cost to the residents.
The previous waste company picked up glass at the curb side.  BFI does not!
The prior company was polite and really cared about doing a great job. BFI drops garbage and doesn’t clean up after themselves. We end up cleaning up after them.
My opinion is, when something works great, for a few pennies, why change it?
Because of the service they provide, I don’t believe BFI will provide the cheapest costs for Osoyoos residents.
At our home, we do our own recycling, composting and glass so our garbage is very little.
Has anyone considered that if these carts are used, the aged or handicapped may have difficulty getting them out to the curb for pick-up – wheels on them or not?
I would like to send the message to town council that we should not be included in the residential cart program.
The best solution is that Osoyoos should return to our old waste pickup company because they did an excellent job.
