The Osoyoos chapter of Grandmothers for Africa continue to work diligently to help raise money to assist the Stephen Lewis Foundation and help poor children and their families in numerous Third World countries. The local chapter always welcomes new members interested in assisting a worthy cause. (Photo supplied)
Grandmothers for Africa is a group of women across Canada who raise money for the Stephen Lewis Foundation, which is turn send dollars to Africa to assist families and orphans who have been affected by HIV, AIDS and various forms of abuse.
Locally, our fall project will be a bridge tournament at the United Church in Osoyoos on November 5.
Other money raised comes from four donation tins placed at JoJo’s Café, Yore Movie Store, Wander Café and the B.C. Liquor Store.
We would like to extend our thanks to these businesses for their participation and support.
We would also like to give a big thank you to Christa Gabriel, who sewed many small dresses for little girls with funds going to the foundation.
New members are invited to attend our meeting on Wednesday, Nov. 12.
Last week we invited one new member and extend an invitation to any local women to just “drop in and see” what we do. We can always use more helpers.
