Two of Bell Media’s radio stations – Move 97.1 (99.9 FM in Osoyoos) and Bounce 1240 AM (rebroadcast on 102.9 FM) – have been off the air since the evening of Jan. 2 leaving only static on the channels.
A power outage has taken out the stations’ transmission facility on Mount Kobau with FortisBC saying the outage was caused by ice. The outage started on Jan. 2 at 8:37 p.m. with the power company estimating restoration by Jan. 7, 3:15 p.m.
According to Bounce radio host Brock Jackson, the station’s programming can still be heard on AM 1240 or through online streaming.
Bounce is actually an AM radio station, CJOR 1240, but operates an FM rebroadcaster on 102.9 MHz as CJOR-FM in Oliver.
With a number of owners and formats the current Osoyoos Bounce radio station began its life as CKOO in 1966 and in the late 1970s or early 1980s had a rebroadcaster added in Oliver at 1490 AM with the callsign CKOO-1.
