Osoyoos artist Nancy Gray is launching her first solo show at the Art Gallery Osoyoos in September.
Entitled Multitude of Muses, the exhibit runs from Sept. 7 to Oct. 5 at the gallery.
“I’ve always enjoyed art. I’ve been more focused on it since about 2003, when I took some drawing and watercolour courses,” Gray said.
With her interest in art ignited, she moved to Osoyoos in 2007 from Ontario and found a welcoming and fostering place for her
art to bloom.
“I was extremely impressed because it is a very inclusive and friendly community. It was a big difference from what I was used to. I’m continually impressed with all the talent we have in the area,” Gray said.

Fast garnering praise, Gray’s work has brought home many awards in the valley. She was approached by the past art gallery curator, Sue Whittaker, to do her first-time solo exhibition.
“It is my first solo show, so it is very exciting,” Gray said.
Mostly working in watercolours, Gray explores a wide variety of representational and abstract art, as well as a mix of both. She looks for inspiration everywhere and among her pieces one will find nature, landscape, architecture and the abstract.
“It depends on what kind of a piece I’m doing. I’ve done paintings of birds or landscapes, which are more representative, and I do those based off photos of places that I have been,” Gray said. “As far as the abstract, that is the more creative side of me coming out.”
An opening reception for the show takes place Friday, Sept. 6 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Art Gallery Osoyoos.
