This is sent in response to the opinion piece by Richard Cannings titled “Families finally getting help” on Nov. 17.

Cannings’ attempt at deflection of blame for the Trudeau Liberal inflation that Canadians are suffering appears to be misguided.

What Cannings fails to say is that it is the NDP that are propping up a Liberal government that is out of control in spending our hard earned taxes and is exacerbating inflation with their huge deficit spending and debt creation since 2015.

We all remember Trudeau’s “budgets will balance themselves” statement in 2015. Any reasonable person would look at the results of his tenure so far and see nothing is balanced, and in fact will see a looming financial disaster for Canada and Canadians, their children, and grandchildren in increasing taxation to service the interest on such a huge national debt that has been created by Trudeau and the Liberals.

Trudeau has committed billions of dollars to foreign countries, in the last 2 weeks alone he has spent over $800 million of our taxes in supporting other countries, however Mr Cannings does not mention that, while Trudeau and the NDP crow about throwing Canadian families mere crumbs.

The “Let them eat cake” attitude of the Trudeau Liberals supported by the NDP is an insult to struggling families in Canada.

Trudeau and the NDP are determined to increase the burden of taxation on Canadians to pay for their catastrophic fiscal policies and, as just one example, will be tripling the carbon tax in 2023. It is no coincidence that gas and other energy prices have skyrocketed, and will continue to do so, as it is a result of taxation and the Trudeau government’s war on Canadian energy production.

It is likely that Canada could be energy self sufficient but for the policies of the Trudeau government and the support now given by the NDP.

The NDP were an advocate and supporter of the Trudeau government invocation of the Emergencies Act which was a draconian and tyrannical overreach on the part of the Trudeau Liberals, and which is now being exposed in the inquiry currently taking place in Ottawa.

The RCMP and CSIS and others’ testimony exposes that there never was any legitimate threat to Canada or the Trudeau government, and in fact CSIS reported that the protests were simply Canadian citizens using their lawful right to peaceful assembly and freedom of expression.

It appears that the NDP were duped by the Trudeau misinformation and lies regarding the protesters and have yet again been duped into continuing to support a government that will say and do anything to remain in power, and who have the interests of foreign countries’ citizens top of mind over the interests of Canadians.

Why isn’t Cannings and the NDP calling on the Trudeau government to remove taxes from the essentials of everyday needs of Canadians struggling to eat or heat their homes and drive their vehicles?

Why isn’t Cannings and the NDP openly calling for Trudeau and the Liberals to fully fund provinces in order to be able to provide a properly functioning healthcare system for Canadians, who in many instances have no family doctor, and have difficulty even accessing a hospital emergency department when needed? No, they would rather crow about their involvement in getting the crumbs, that makes them look good, than demand that the money spent on other countries is redirected to benefit struggling Canadians.

One only has to look at what has taken place since 2015 and since the NDP have been propping up the Trudeau government to see the results and where we are now in Canada.
