The beginning of another new year usually brings renewed energy and enthusiasm for many Canadians including the good citizens of Osoyoos.
This is the time of the year to make resolutions to eat healthier food, exercise more, be nicer to your family and neighbours and all kinds of other promises.
The good news is it’s never a bad thing to make a resolution you believe will improve your quality of life. The bad news is most resolutions are never acted on and nothing really changes in the long term for a large majority of people.
For the people who call Osoyoos and area home, what we should never forget is how blessed we are to live in a small community that has so much to offer to its own citizens as well as the tens of thousands of visitors who come this way each and every year.
Not only do we have one of the most beautiful climates in the entire country, but we have access to an endless list of amenities in and around town.
Osoyoos Lake is one of the most beautiful and envied bodies of water not only in British Columbia, but anywhere in the entire country.
People from across the province and many other parts of western Canada realize just how beautiful this lake is and flock here during the warm weather months to swim, fish, boat and generally enjoy all that Osoyoos Lake has to offer.
Because of the sensational weather we all get to enjoy as part of living in the Sonora Desert, we are also blessed to live in the heart of desert wine country. Osoyoos is home to arguably the largest collection of quality wineries in all of Canada.
For those who love camping and the outdoors, you don’t have to go far to enjoy all of the joys and benefits Mother Nature has to offer.
The majestic Kootenay Rockies provide endless opportunities during all four seasons for outdoor enthusiasts and there is easy access to the beautiful and majestic Okanagan Valley.
For golfers, ATV enthusiasts, anglers and hunters, southern B.C. and the Osoyoos area offers everything you could ever imagine in terms of opportunities and variety.
The bottom line is the quality of life we all enjoy in southern B.C. is outstanding and the envy of the rest of the country, which is why so many tourists and visitors flock here and why so many people who have worked hard and lived in the big city want to come here to enjoy their retirement years.
With the beginning of a new year, let’s not forget just how lucky we all are to live in this wonderful community and area.
Canada is a wonderful country from coast-to-coast, we’re just luckier than most and we should never forget it.
