Limited doctor availability once again closed the emergency department at South Okanagan General Hospital on Dec. 19.

Interior Health announced that emergency services were unavailable to the public from midnight to 8 a.m. on Monday.

During that time people were encouraged to seek emergency care at Penticton Regional Hospital. Those needing life-threatening care were asked to call 911.

During the closure all other inpatient services at SOGH continued as normal.

The last emergency department closure that was announced at SOGH occurred this summer.

Anyone unsure whether an emergency room visit is warranted can call Health-Link BC at 8-1-1, or visit HealthLinkBC. ca for non-emergency health information from professionals 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
