There are so many people to thank for Oliver’s new outdoor fitness park, but where do you start?
At Wednesday’s grand opening in Lion’s Park, the Kiwanis Club was on top of the list as the group donated $15,000 towards the project.
Parks and Recreation manager Carol Sheridan also thanked Elaine Chernoff and the Okanagan Similkameen Healthy Living Coalition for their work in bringing the park to fruition.
Area C director Terry Schafer said the new park is such an asset to the community, and he thanked Sheridan for her “infectious enthusiasm” in Oliver.
Mayor Ron Hovanes agreed that Sheridan is the reason that things like this happen in Oliver. He specifically mentioned the Kiwanis Club for being so generous.
Club president Lee Chic said the $15,000 comes directly from money raised at the Kiwanis Market. She praised the many volunteers who make that work.
