A three-time Juno Award winning, platinum album-selling Canadian hip-hop group is coming to play Osoyoos this month.
Swollen Members, who are on the verge of releasing a new album called Beautiful Death Machine will perform at the Breeze Bar and Grill on April 23.
After virtually disappearing from the pop-music scene since their last album, Black Magic, was released in 2006, the Vancouver-based trio of Mad Child, Prevail and Rob the Viking are back on tour.
But what does it take to get such a big-name act to play locally?
They called us, actually, said Jason St. Laurent, executive chef and senior manager of Breeze.
It's quite pricey so we kind of hummed and hawed about it, he said.
But St. Laurent said he quickly came to a decision, believing the concert would benefit the town as well as the bar.
Tickets to the show are limited, he said, and according to posters around town, it will cost $35 to get in.
St. Laurent said the doors to the show will open at 8 p.m. and if you can get your hands on tickets, you can expect more than one band.
There'll be entertainment all night.rnThe show will also feature DJ Wes and DJ K-Fancy.
And it's also your opportunity to pick up a signed copy of the band's newest CD “ which hasn't been released yet.
But the new album, expected to come out this fall, is just the beginning of the trio's hopeful trip back to stardom, said Valerie Wilson, the band's publicist and agent.
Swollen Members are creating what's called the Battle Axe Warriors as well as they have two albums dropping this year, she said.
Wilson said the band has a new sound in addition to their new albums and they want their fans to know they've not been forgotten.
A member of the band was not available for comment before press time.
