Dear Editor:

On Wednesday July 8, two events occurred on the international political stage that Canadians would be wise to reflect on.

Both were events that dramatically reveal two divergent dynamics at play in our world.

On the one hand, in Brussels there was the spectacle of a freaked out verbal brawl, after Greek Prime Minister Tsipiris  addressed the European Parliament.

The Greek PM presented the case, backed by the overwhelming vote of the Greek people, that all the efforts to save the British-initiated Euro system by killing Greece have failed.

Here, it is also important to realize that Goldman Sachs played a pivotal role in enticing the not-so- prudent government of Greece at the time of entry into the EU, to not worry, be happy, and through typical bankster skullduggery, duped that administration into an over the counter derivatives swindle that exacerbated the country’s financial woes and entrenched the nation’s indebtedness.

In reality, the lion’s share of this debt is fraudulent. Tsipras demanded that European Union institutions face reality and write down the debts.

This is not some new idea.

In 1953, at a conference in London, roughly 60 percent of Germany’s debt was forgiven.

Devoid of any rational response, the proponents of so-called European unity hurled insults, calling Tsipras a liar and demanding that Greeks sacrifice themselves for the good of the equally insolvent EU.

Meanwhile, a couple of weeks ago in Ufa, Russia a far different mood of co-operation for the common interest of humankind was evident as the BRICS and the Shanghai Co-operation Organization(SCO) summits got underway.

The BRICS nations represent roughly half the world’s land mass and population and the SCO includes Russia, India, China and another 14 Asian, Eurasian and Mid-East nations.

The BRICS New Development Bank and the SCO Fund were ratified and are operational and, along with China’s Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank, a new financial architecture exists for multi-national co-operation in much needed and significant infrastructure development throughout the globe.

Canada must abandon the dying, bankrupt and desperate gambling casino that passes as the Transatlantic financial system and join the BRICS.

There exists also the very real possibility of world war as a result of the desperate British/US/NATO axis’ attempt to maintain hegemony within the reality of this new multi-polar world order for peace through development emerging with the BRICS nations.

It is well past time for a profound shift in political policy here in Canada.
