Hwy. 3A is now open to single lane alternating traffic, according to DriveBC which warns to expect delays. It asks that drivers please watch for road crews. DriveBC said the next update will be Tuesday, Apr 22 at 1 p.m.

UPDATE: Wednesday, Apr. 16, 8:50 a.m.

DriveBC is indicating Hwy. 3A is still closed due to the rock slide on Tuesday morning as of it’s last update on Wednesday, Apr. 16 at 5:06 a.m.  The next update will be Wednesday, Apr 16 at 3 p.m.

ORIGINAL Story

The Lower Similkameen Indian Band has advised that Hwy. 3A at Yellow Lake is closed due to a rockslide that occurred early this morning. 

The band advised that the opening of the highway will depend on a geotechnical assessment.

DriveBC noted the slide is between Green Mountain Rd and Taggart Crescent for 7.4 km (13 to 20 km east of Keremeos). 

Hwy. 3A is closed to all but local traffic only, with all other traffic to use an alternate route of Highway 3 through Osoyoos, according to DriveBC’s last update on Tuesday, Apr. 15 at 9:59 a.m.

The next update was said to be Tuesday, Apr. 15 at 3 p.m., but as of 4 p.m. the status has not changed.
