A structure fire on Sunday outside Osoyoos has left seven people in the care of Emergency Support Services BC.

At 4:27 p.m. on May 30, Osoyoos Fire Rescue responded to a structure fire in the 12000 block of Hwy 97.

Osoyoos Fire Rescue got to the scene with three engines, two command vehicles, one rescue, and one water tender. They also requested another water tender from Oliver for mutual aid.

“Upon the arrival of the command vehicle, flames were coming out a South West window, and fire had started burning through the roof,” stated Osoyoos Deputy Chief Ryan McCaskill.

By this time, all occupants were out of the structure, added McCaskill.

The first engine arrived at the location approximately eight minutes from the time of page. Firefighters pulled attack lines and knocked down the fire from the outside.

A total of 17 fire personnel were on at the scene during the time of the fire. Crews were present for 3.5 hours fighting the fire and doing overhaul.

The cause of the fire is currently still under investigation
