A driver was to taken to hospital with undetermined injuries after the person’s vehicle crashed and overturned on the Fairview Road bridge late this afternoon.
Oliver firefighters had to extricate the driver from the vehicle that was upside down on the east side of the bridge.
Fire Chief Bob Graham said he didn’t know the cause, but stated the vehicle appeared to hit a concrete abutment and pole on the right side of the bridge heading west.
One witness said he was crossing the bridge when he heard a loud crash. The incident occurred at approximately 4:45 p.m.
The Chronicle is awaiting details from the RCMP.
This is the second day in a row that firefighters and police were called out to a motor vehicle accident. On Wednesday they attended a two-vehicle collision on Highway 97 at Secrest Hill Road.
Fire department spokesman Rob Graham said a smaller vehicle hit a fruit truck, but no extrication was required.
One patient with unknown injuries was transported to hospital by ambulance.
