Highway 97 north of Osoyoos was closed to traffic on Friday afternoon after a single-vehicle accident knocked over a hydro pole.
“A vehicle heading northbound ended up going through a telephone pole and into an orchard,” Osoyoos fire chief Ryan McCaskill said.
The driver was unharmed by the incident.
McCaskill said he had no explanation as to what caused the accident.
RCMP and the Osoyoos Fire Department were on scene and detoured traffic via 108 Avenue and 87 Street.
The highway reopened around 4 p.m. once FortisBC was able to secure the pole.
