Highway 3 has reopened to traffic in both directions, according to the latest update from DriveBC. The 5.5 km section of road has been cleared of rocks between Hedley-Nickleplate Rd to Ashnola Rd for 5.5 km that closed the road and forced an evacuation of local residents last Sunday (Nov. 5).

A geotechnical assessment was completed at the site of a rockslide in Electoral Area “G” west of Keremeos on Tuesday, Nov. 7,  which determined the risk of rock fall has returned to previous levels. The road was subsequently reopened for alternating one lane traffic.

The photos below were provided by Ecora Engineering, and show some of the damage to the highway and utility poles.
