Dear Editor:
The excellent editorial that appeared recently in the Osoyoos Times under the headline, “Generosity of community” to Syrian family was a wonderful companion piece to the story about the Tabanjat Karbouj family.
We want to voice our personal appreciation to the community for their generous and long-lasting outpouring of support to the Osoyoos Refugee Project.
Individuals (including snowbirds and visitors), local businesses, media, service clubs, churches, Town of Osoyoos council and staff were all part of the extensive support network.
The Osoyoos Times deserves special recognition. The Times provided regular and crucial coverage of the initial organizing efforts and the subsequent fundraising and awareness raising campaigns and served as a depot for donations to the Osoyoos Refugee Project.
Without the Times’ support, we would not have been so successful.
Our heartfelt thanks to everyone who supported this project.
